A Commenter Called Me The B-Word. What’s Going On?

I found Medium four years ago.

My entire time here — I have had “discourse” which is not an argument, by the way, with dozens of commenters. Maybe hundreds.

It’s not always pretty either.

I’ve debated with readers, or writers, about race, racism, ethnicity, religion, gender, women’s rights, and other heavy topics. I’ve blocked people. People have blocked me. Whenever I feel someone has gotten to the point where they’re being disrespectful, or they’re trying to personally attack me, I end the conversation.

That’s not how I operate. I don’t have time for that. If you think you’re beefing with me, I promise you, you’re beefing by yourself.

With that said — I’ve never been called a b****, and I never thought I would be here. And, I certainly didn’t think I would be by this person, and definitely not in this context, where the words exchanged weren’t even heated, at least not on my part. I actually followed this person.

I’ve seen nasty arguments online, and I’ve also been the target of nasty comments online, so I know how the internet works. That’s why I avoid those types of exchanges and also those pockets of the internet — where negativity and incivility flies.
