America Has Fallen
It’s true.
America, if you view it as a social experiment, as many do, has failed. The once “great” nation has fallen.
Look no further than who is — what we used to call — “the most powerful person in the free world.” Only, we now know nothing is free, especially America.
America was once “uncharted” territory, only we now know it actually wasn’t, and had been explored by many peoples before 1492, when Columbus sailed the ocean blue. With no one but the Indigenous Americans standing in the way, America was free for the taking. Clear water, mountain ranges, deserts, forests, beaches, hidden gold, and acres upon acres of land to be ravished.
In time, America had it all. The greatest economy in the world. Our stars were everyone’s stars. American “culture” was everyone’s “culture.” Other countries knew our singers, actors, fashion, and cinema, even when we knew nothing about theirs. Why would we? America was the center of the universe, and every other country made it so. Or, at least that’s how it seemed.
Martin Luther King Jr. was prophetic. On the night before his death, he predicted there would eventually be integration. White children and Black children would go to school together. Segregation would be deemed not only illegal, but unconscionable, across the nation. We would eventually have a Black president…
