Are Black Women Done With America?

This was the consensus after Vice President Kamala Harris lost the presidential election two weeks ago. That, and, burn this country to the ground. We don’t care. We also hoped for #47 to accomplish everything he’s said he would! Why not? His followers deserve to get everything they voted for, after all. I guess we took a page out of their book. The motto was — I don’t mind suffering as long as they are suffering worse! His voters are going to suffer. There’s no doubt about that. We all are.

92% of us voted for Harris, and we warned everyone else to do the same. 78% of Black men voted for Harris. So, we did our part. We can’t do anything more.

Every Black woman I know, both in person and online, proclaimed that they were done with “trying to save this country” the morning after the election. This was not a decision we came to in a meeting. We decided it individually, before communicating with each other, which makes it so uncanny.

I’m not going to give secrets away, but part of the reason why Black women are done with trying to preserve democracy in America is to protect our peace. If you’re a Black woman who’s felt stressed, or disempowered, since the reelection of #47, don’t. Now is the time to take care of yourself. Get enough sleep. Avoid everything that’s related to politics if you have to do so. Work out. Eat healthy meals…
