Being A Wife Is Not A Prize

This is something that I’ve articulated before in another article that I wrote this summer —

In this article, I highlighted why men routinely marry women that they do not love.

But this is something that I believe women really need to understand — being a wife is not a prize.

I don’t say this as a woman who does not believe in love or romance. I don’t speak as a woman who doesn’t believe in marriage.

I believe in all of these things.

I think marriage is a blessing and that being married should be an honor.

However, this is the real world, and that simply isn’t always the case.

And, even in marriages where being a wife is an honor, it is not a prize.

The honor comes from the nature of the relationship, but not from the act of being chosen.

Even in the best of marriages — women shouldn’t look at being wives as being some type of prize.
