Happy Black History Month!

No matter what anyone says, we’re going to continue to celebrate Black history, and make it as well.

This is a mid-month rundown of some recent achievements in Black American History as we celebrate our people’s ability to always resist while still managing to find joy and success.

Beyoncé & Kendrick Lamar Sweep the Grammys

Global icon, Beyoncé, finally won Album of the Year (AOTY) at the 2025 Grammys. She continued her run as the most nominated artist as well as the most awarded artist with 99 nominations and 35 wins. After years of being snubbed, she became only the fourth Black female solo artist to win AOTY. She joins an illustrious list of Black American winners including Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Michael Jackson, Lauryn Hill, and Whitney Houston. She also became the first Black woman to win Best Country Album. After her wildly successful 2022 album, Renaissance, Beyoncé tackled country music with last year’s Cowboy Carter. Notwithstanding controversy, the album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and Top Country Albums charts. It surpassed one billion streams and its lead single, “Texas Hold ‘Em,” debuted number one on the Hot 100 making Beyoncé the first Black woman to do so with…
