Did This Man Try To Rob Me At Whole Foods?

Recently, I was at Whole Foods.

I wasn’t shopping. I was shipping something back to Amazon.

I was in and out of the store in a flash.

On my way back to my car, a man stopped me.

He said, “excuse me ma’am, could you help me?”

I should have kept on walking, but I didn’t. I’ve been told that I look too unassuming. People are always asking me for help, directions, or something.

He said, “I traveled here from Texas to go to a funeral. I had a family member who died. I’ve got my three babies with me. They’re back at the hotel with their mother, and we don’t have any food. I don’t have any money, and I’m also running out of gas.”

This man was in a car. It also seemed that his air conditioner was running, even though he had his window down. I saw some car seats in the back seat, but I did not believe this man’s story. He did have Texas license plates.

Also, I didn’t have any cash to spare.

I said, “I’m sorry, sir, but I don’t have any cash on me.”

He asked, “Can you get some, please? I’m an honest man. I promise you.”

At this point, I’m annoyed, and a little confused.
