Five Things I Like About Getting Older

  1. I have more perspective. Nothing beats perspective. If you haven’t lived long enough to have it, you just don’t. What this means is that I’m able to know what’s important and what’s not. Have you ever heard, if it won’t matter five years from now, then it’s not important? This cliché is true. Life and experience give you the perspective to not sweat the small stuff — another true cliché. There are many things that I do not let bother me that I would have in the past.
  2. I protect my peace. Let me repeat — I protect my peace. I do this at all costs. Anything that doesn’t serve me, benefit me, uplift or empower me, I do not give it my energy. I will sever ties with anything or anybody that threatens my peace.
  3. I’m careful with my energy. You have to be cautious of what you give your energy to. In fact, it defines you and how high, or low, you vibrate.
  4. I mind my business. I mind the business that pays me. The hilarious Eddie Murphy recently went viral with his blueprint for his longevity, peace of mind, and continued success. He said:

“Just do these three things: pay your taxes, mind your business…” Murphy then raised his voice. “And keep Will Smith’s wife’s name out your f****** mouth.”

I think this is great advice, all around.

5. I don’t concern myself with the opinions of others. First of all, it’s not my business. Secondly, everyone is free to have their own opinions. I can only control myself. I focus on myself and what I think and believe.

What do you like about getting older???
