I think two people can structure their relationship/interactions whichever way works best for them. If I prefer, and expect, chivalry, that's my right. If people don't, that's their right too.

Either way, I don't think women should expect chivalry from platonic relationships, strangers, even dates with men they just met, etc. But I would never date a man who isn't chivalrous. Other women don't feel that way.

Men don't have to be chivalrous if they don't want to.

No, I don't need, or expect for, any man I come in contact with to help me with my bags, pick up what I drop, let me go ahead of them in line, or run to open the door etc.
