hindsight is not 20/20.

it’s distorted,
revised,
remembered in a way to fit the outcomes.
the past, unlike the present, is not a gift,
or puzzle
to complete
or wrap up tightly
with a bow
and put into the storage
of our minds
like the archives
of a computer
or a museum
that we can retrieve
whenever needed
for reference.

No, no, no.

The past is to metamorphose
not serve as a reference book.
