Micro-aggressions are never unintentional and people perform them for a reason. The hotel worker knew what he was doing. As impoverished as this man was, he still found someone he felt he could punch down on, and indeed, did it--a Black woman, despite her "status" in the interaction. In fact, it's her "status" being above his, that made him angrier, and he wanted to put her in her place. Same mess. Different country. She is a patron at the hotel like anyone else, and he understands that. He just doesn't feel he should have to respect her because of the color of her skin. Honestly, why would she owe him POC solidarity or consideration that he didn't offer to her?

No matter where people are from, their race, or social class, they always think Black people, especially Black women, should be the mule of their society. I hate it.
