The United States didn’t “obliterate” anything in Iran.
Donald Trump carried out unauthorized air strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities last weekend. I know it seems like it was longer ago, but it wasn’t. It’s been a week. I, too, had to double check to make sure. The news “cycle” is no longer a cycle. It’s a “flash in the pan.” In addition to that, the news media is doing a terrible job at making it clear that 1.) Trump did not have the approval of Congress to do this and 2.) It’s not clear if these strikes accomplished anything — like destroying the enriched uranium used to make nuclear weapons.
Instead, the news media defended Trump by stating that previous presidents in the modern era have done the same thing — they carried out “small-scale” military operations solely at their own discretion. That doesn’t make it right. Also, this is Donald Trump. He’s grabbed enough power and ignored the Constitution too many times to give him a pass. I got so tired of the pundits and their guests lowkey acting as if Trump had done a good thing by “disarming” Iran — something that other presidents didn’t have the “guts” to do — I had to turn the TV off.
