Republicans Are Coming For You Next

I’ve written time and time again about how the Republican Party, the one that’s active right now, only has the best interest of a select few in mind.

That’s wealthy, upper one-percenter, white men. You have to be white. You have to be wealthy. Like, really wealthy. And you have to be a man. Oh, and let’s throw in heterosexual.

If you’re not all of those things, and that’s the overwhelming majority of the American population, then the Republican Party is not for you. Their policies, and their agenda, will eventually leave you out in the cold.

Last week, the Alabama Supreme Court ruled that frozen embryos are children.

As ABC News reported —

“In an unprecedented decision, the state’s highest court ruled that “unborn children are ‘children’ … without exception based on developmental stage, physical location, or any other ancillary characteristics.”

Alabama Chief Justice Tom Parker quoted the Bible in a concurring opinion, citing the sanctity of unborn life.

This plays right into the Republican Party’s plan to completely monitor and control the reproductive rights of American women. By calling frozen embryos actual children, they’re pushing the belief that life begins at conception. In turn, however, they’re actually limiting the number of babies being born by stopping some babies from being born through in vitro fertilization.

Fertility treatments have been on the rise, according to the Pew Research Center, and in 2021, more than 238,000 families in the U.S. relied on IVF, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Republican lawmakers will pretend that they didn’t know this would happen, but in vitro fertilization is nothing more than a casualty of their crusade. Also, I’m sure these Republicans, mostly men, don’t like the idea of women delaying motherhood, sometimes to only birth one child, or the idea of same-sex couples becoming parents through IVF. I’m sure many of them find the whole thing “unnatural” and off-putting. IVF is also used for young cancer patients to make sure they can have children one day in the future.

Next: birth control. And who will be the casualties? Those who use it to regulate their cycles and…
