Trump said Haitian immigrants are eating family pets in Springfield, Ohio. He claimed this is what residents of Springfield say they are experiencing. This literally had me rolling on the floor laughing because it was so absurd. Also, it caught me by surprise. Yet, this is really spreading around J.D. Vance’s home state of Ohio. Vance, U.S. Senator (Ohio), is also central in the spreading of these lies.
Journalist Zaid Jilani helped debunk these lies on X. They can be traced to an August 27 town hall meeting in Springfield, Ohio. A Neo-Nazi, who called himself Nathaniel Higgers (real name Drake R. Berentz), of Blood Tribe, told the city council that “crime and savagery will only increase with every Haitian you bring in.”
