The Two People I Will Never Argue With On Medium Again
I write about a variety of topics and in a variety of genres. At least I like to think that I do. But two topics seem to gain me the most engagement and comments (this is not why I write about them of course…). I write about them because I’m passionate about them, because I want to make change, and because they impact me. That’s race and women’s issues…especially Black women’s issues.
I run into commenters, regularly, who want to drag me into circular arguments, or derail the conversation I’ve started, by basically telling me that I’m wrong. Or that I’m lying.
These commenters tell me that I’m lying about racism or misogyny and misogynoir, or that I’m exaggerating. I even have commenters who tell me that “blacks are the real racists” or that men are the “real” victims of society. Or that Black men have it worse than Black women like it’s some competition, or worse, that Black men suffer the most due to the actions of Black women! WHAT?!
Twitter is a place that I look to for inspiration, and these are literally two of the people who like to derail my articles, and who I will no longer respond to…
