This is How a Preventable Illness Upended America
America did not handle COVID properly. If you don’t believe me, the USA leads the world in COVID deaths and cases. The United States, while it no longer tops the list of most developed countries in the world, is still considered “first world.” First world problems used to mean something innocuous like Starbucks leaving the whipped cream off your latte (even though that was illusory and never really the case), but now it means catching COVID due to a lack of regulations, being called back to work in 5 days, or losing your home or life because of the rampant spread of COVID and its variants. The bottomline is that the US could do so much better.
The United States has managed and responded to COVID in a grossly incompetent manner.
It made several mistakes that led to the disaster we are at now — and they all could have been avoided. They are moral, logistical, and public health failures.
The USA put profits over people.
Lawmakers said they wanted workers back to work in no uncertain terms. The country did not lockdown long enough and refuses to lockdown again. It was about saving the economy, not the health and wellbeing of the people.
