Trump’s Address to Congress: Culture Wars, Crime, and Christian Nationalism
Trump’s address to a joint session of the U.S. Congress was not a “state of the union” in any way, shape, form, or fashion. Unless the only concerns the union has are culture wars (transgenderism), crime (from immigrants), and making America a white Christian nationalist country. This means a country ran by, and exclusively for, white, heterosexual Christians. Black people, and people of color, will be needed, but they will be needed to be the underclass and to do subservient labor…in the hopes and dreams of white Christian nationalists (like prior to the Civil Rights Movement). This is not going to happen again, so what you’ll have, is a government that essentially ignores the existence of Black people, people of color, and other minority groups. Hopefully, by ignoring us, and actively taking away legislation that benefits us (like DEI, affirmative action, some government entitlements, and laws to protect citizens against police officers),while we won’t cease to exist, we’ll cease to thrive.
On the one hand, Republicans use culture wars to fascinate and distract their voters. I always believed culture wars involved issues like sexuality, gender, morality, and abortion.
