Trump’s Ballroom Says “Let Them Eat Cake”

Donald Trump is spending $200 million of taxpayer money to add a large ballroom to the White House.

That’s excessive, mind-blowing, and appalling during a time when groceries are higher than ever, Medicaid and SNAP benefits are being cut, bills like electricity are rising, and many Americans feel they are being priced out of living. So, while the average American is possibly eating less because of rising food costs, deciding whether to get a prescription or gas, and worrying about their Social Security being cut, or not having it at all in the future, the President of the United States thinks it’s appropriate, and necessary, to spend $200 million dollars on a ballroom. And, for what?! Is it to impress foreign world leaders, like Russia’s Vladimir Putin, when he visits the White House? Is it for photo ops? Is it to hold galas and dances while the average American struggles to make ends meet. Trump is going to dance on the hopes, dreams, health, and finances of an increasingly weary population.

Ironically, Trump ran on a platform of lowering government spending and waste. The people, well the poor, working, and middle class — whatever those terms even mean these days — are the waste. An estimated 51,000 Americans will die annually thanks to Trump’s policies and tax cuts for the wealthy.
