Trump’s Comments Blaming DEI for a Plane Crash Were Not Shocking
Last Wednesday’s midair plane crash between an American Airlines jet and an Army Black Hawk helicopter was the deadliest U.S. air disaster since November 2001. The crash happened on the way to Washington, DC’s Reagan National Airport and all 67 passengers on both aircrafts perished. President Donald Trump shocked many when he blamed last week’s tragic plane crash on DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) policies during a press conference last Thursday. For starters, Trump’s claims didn’t make sense. There is no evidence whatsoever that the plane crash was caused by DEI initiatives taken by the Federal Aviation Agency. Specifically, there is no evidence that a Black, or mentally, intellectually, psychiatrically, or physically disabled air traffic controller was responsible for the accident despite Trump’s rhetoric.
