Why I Don’t Care What Happens to MAGA
Or America…
MAGA. Make America Grossly Racist Again. MAGA. Make All these G_ddamn Animals know their place again. MAGA. Mediocre Angry Whites with Grievances Association.
I’ve been asked why I don’t care about the chaos the president-elect is about to unleash on America. This is not a bad question. I won’t be immune to the repercussions. I’ll admit that it takes a hell of a lot of cognitive dissonance to be okay with the country you were born in, and might live in for the foreseeable future, crumble. Plus, I was raised to be a compassionate, empathetic person who never, ever wished harm on anyone else. First of all, it’s wrong. Second of all, those kinds of thoughts and wishes will come back to you. Tenfold. Whenever I was reminded of the golden rule — do unto others as you would have them do unto you — it was always combined with some good old Southern Black Methodist wisdom such as “what goes around comes around.” Or, “God don’t like ugly, and he ain’t too crazy about pretty.”
Thus, I know how it sounds when I say I’m going to sit back with some popcorn and wine and watch MAGA and America get exactly what they deserve. The thing is though, I’m not bitter, and I’m not a hateful person. What I am is fed the fuck up.
