Why Was Alec Baldwin Charged With Involuntary Manslaughter?

Is it political?

I ask this because those who support Kyle Rittenhouse are celebrating the actor being charged with manslaughter for the accidental death of a cinematographer on the set of the movie Rust.

Is it his hilarious portrayal of Donald Trump on SNL?

The tragic shooting took place in New Mexico in October 2021.

The film’s armorer overseeing weapons, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, is also being charged with manslaughter. David Halls, the film’s first assistant director, took a deal and plead guilty to the charge of negligent use of a deadly weapon.

I understand why Gutierrez-Reed is being charged. If she was in charge of the weapons, she should have made sure there were no bullets, or live rounds, in the gun. Also, why was a real gun being used?

I also understand why Halls was charged. As an assistant director, Mr. Halls served as safety coordinator on set and handed the gun to Mr. Baldwin at the rehearsal. He also yelled “cold gun” which meant the gun was not supposed to have any live rounds.

As a safety coordinator, shouldn’t he also have been responsible, and equipped, to make sure there were no live rounds in the guns he was handing over to the actors?
